New Life Joins World Heart Day - Heart for Life!

Since 1999, September 29 has been marked as international Heart Day all over the world, including Georgia, the founder of this day was the President of the International Heart Federation Anthony Bayes de Luna, who aimed at raising public awareness about heart and respiratory diseases. The idea was supported by the World Health Association (WHO) and UNESCO. Today the holiday is celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death in the world. World Heart Day is a global health campaign whose main goal is to raise awareness about diseases of the cardiovascular system, their causes and their prevention.

According to the World Heart Federation, 80% of premature deaths from heart attack and stroke can be prevented if we consider the underlying risk factors:

  • Hypertension;
  • Increased levels of cholesterol and its fractions in the blood;
  • Tobacco consumption;
  • Obesity;
  • Excessive alcohol consumption;
  • Sedentary lifestyle;
  • Stress

Take care of the heart - the recommendations from new life cardiologists

  • Refuse to use tobacco and alcohol;
  • It is necessary to exercise for at least half an hour daily, which significantly reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke;
  • Give preference to a balanced diet;
  • Avoid sweets and cakes, as they are one of the main causes of inflammation and cholesterol in the walls of blood vessels;
  • See a cardiologist regularly.
